How to get the most from the podcast

There's 3 series of the Landscaping Your Life with Alison Smith podcast all aimed at helping you get back on track. You'll find an index of each of the series episodes further down the page. Here's some info to help you make a decision about where to start.

  • series 1 - episodes 1 to 21 - a mix of metaphor, mindset and belief change to see situations from a different perspective
  • series 2 - episode 22 to 41 - exploring nature's landscapes in the language you're using when you're stuck to get back on track
  • series 3 - episodes 42+ - using nature and poems to provide insight about situations you're grappling with

You'll find the podcast where ever you listen to your podcasts including Apple and Spotify.

Where I'd suggest you start to listen to the episodes depends on why you're here:

  • If you love poetry - start with series 3 (although series 1 has a few poems too) - this playlist of my poems on Youtube may also be a great resource to access my poems and this blog has links to a few of the poems I've written including this one entitled "I reclaim all my parts"
  • If you're into self development - listen to series 1 and 3
  • If you're a coach - I'd start with series 2
  • If you're stuck and don't know what to do and want insight about a situation all episodes will help (see the next para for a little more to help you make a decision about where to start if this is the case.)

If you'd like to use the podcast as a means of getting a different perspective about a problem you're grappling with, therefore, there's a few ways to do that:

  • Pick an episode where the title resonates with how you're feeling (see list below)
  • Listen to the most recent episode
  • Pick a number between 1 and 63 (or whatever the number of podcasts are by the time you read this) and trust you'll get insight from that episode

Once you've settled on an episode there's a few things that will really help you get the most from the session:

  • Be open to new ideas and using what may feel like an unconventional tool or technique (I share them because they're effective)
  • If you can be walking in nature whilst you listen that would be fantastic
  • Engage with the questions I ask you may even want to put the podcast be on hold whilst you make sense of what I've said before continuing
  • Know that I'm not going to be asking you to review all the facts, data and story you've got about the situation (if that would work you'd have the answer by now)
  • Instead I'm going to use metaphor
  • Which requires you send the story, facts and data on a coffee break along with your logical thinking
  • Whilst you give your creative thinking or inner wisdom a little air time to play and explore to see what it has to offer
  • At the end of the episode it's then time to invite logical thinking back from its break to see what actions its sense making will uncover to help you move from where you are to where you want to be
